From the historic Main Street core to estate properties around Ballantrae and Musselman's Lake, Tree Craft Ontario plans every removal around the tree, the property and site conditions. Storm-damaged and hazardous trees get priority response.

Storm-Damaged or Dangerous Tree? Call Now
Not every tree problem requires removal. The right next step depends on the tree's condition, location, surrounding property and the reason the work is being considered.
Removal may not be necessary where the concern can reasonably be addressed through appropriate pruning or ongoing management.

Tree size alone doesn't determine the scope of a removal. Access, nearby structures, tree condition, working space and the property type can substantially change how a project needs to be planned.
Residential lots across the Community of Stouffville and Gormley, where access, working space and surrounding structures need careful planning.
Larger estate-style properties around Ballantrae, Musselman's Lake, Vandorf and Preston Lake, often with mature tree cover requiring more equipment and working space.
Trees on rural and agricultural properties around Bloomington and the surrounding countryside, where windbreak plantings and field-edge trees are common.
Broken limbs, storm damage and unstable conditions that may require professional assessment before the work method is determined. Whitchurch-Stouffville's more open rural and agricultural areas can see more wind exposure than a sheltered subdivision lot.
The appropriate removal method depends on the tree, its condition, site access, surrounding structures and available working space. A Musselman's Lake estate tree may call for a very different plan than a Main Street lot removal.
The method shown is a planning outcome, not a fixed rule; most projects weigh several of these factors together.
Where site conditions provide sufficient controlled working space, common on larger Ballantrae and rural properties, the removal plan may allow a more direct approach.
Where surrounding space is limited, such as established lots in the Community of Stouffville with restricted equipment access, a tree may need to be dismantled progressively in manageable sections.
Where branches or tree sections can't simply be allowed to fall, controlled rigging may be used to manage how sections are moved or lowered around houses, fences, sheds, landscaping or neighbouring property.
Depending on project conditions, lifts, bucket equipment or other appropriate equipment resources may be used to improve access, control or project efficiency.
For many property owners, the biggest concern isn't just getting the tree down, it's protecting the house, fence, driveway, landscaping and neighbouring property while the work is carried out. The removal plan considers the available drop and working zone, rigging requirements, access, equipment placement, surrounding structures, protected areas, debris movement and cleanup requirements.
An arborist may be relevant to some projects without every removal requiring one. Situations involving a development or Planning Act application, a qualifying woodlot or woodland, or where tree condition or hazard status is unclear can benefit from a professional assessment.
Tree Craft Ontario works with ISA Certified Arborist expertise and can coordinate arborist assessment and reporting as part of the overall project where useful, including Private Tree By-law documentation for development applications.
Review tree condition, approximate size, location, access and surrounding property.
Determine the appropriate removal approach, equipment and resource needs, debris requirements and project scope.
Identify whether a development application, a qualifying woodlot or woodland, or a municipal tree is involved.
Plan working areas, access, surrounding obstacles and areas requiring additional care.
Carry out the removal according to the selected project method.
Handle stump, wood and debris according to the agreed project scope.
Complete the agreed cleanup and final work-area review.
Tree removal is only part of the scope. Before work begins, the quote makes clear what happens to branches, logs, the stump and the work area.
Defined in your project scope
Chipped or removed according to the agreed project scope.
Removed, cut or left on site where agreed, or otherwise handled according to project requirements.
Options may include leaving it, grinding it, or removal where the project specifically requires extraction and that work is included.
Final debris cleanup within the agreed work area and project scope.
Two trees of similar height can require very different removal plans depending on access, condition, surrounding property and the work included in the quote.
Height, canopy and trunk size can affect labour and removal planning.
Dead, damaged or structurally compromised trees may require a different work approach.
Established settlement-area lots and larger rural or agricultural properties can affect the removal method.
Homes, fences, utilities, landscaping and other structures can increase planning and control requirements.
Open-space, climbing, rigging or equipment-assisted work can involve different resources.
Project-specific lift, crane, chipper or other equipment resources may affect scope and cost.
Leaving, grinding or extracting a stump are different scopes.
Chipping, hauling, retaining logs or other disposal requirements affect the project scope.
Development-related removals may also involve arborist report and Private Tree By-law documentation costs, which we can help scope.

Removal, stump, wood, debris and cleanup requirements defined in the agreed quote.
It depends on the situation. Stouffville's Private Tree By-law applies to Private, Mature and Heritage Trees connected to a Site Plan, Subdivision or Consent application under the Planning Act, it generally does not apply to ordinary homeowner removal unrelated to a development application. York Region's Forest Conservation By-law can separately apply to qualifying woodlots and woodlands. See the full Stouffville Tree Removal & Woodland Rules Guide for the complete picture.
Cost depends on the tree's size and condition, site access, nearby structures, the removal method and the agreed stump and debris scope. Every quote is based on the specific tree and property, not a flat rate.
It can. If your property is part of a Site Plan, Subdivision or Consent application, Stouffville's Private Tree By-law requires Private, Mature and Heritage Trees to be identified and may require approval before removal, including a 60-month look-back on trees already removed. We can help identify whether this applies to your project.
It can be. York Region advises that a permit is required before trees are removed from qualifying treed areas greater than 0.2 hectares (0.5 acres), subject to the by-law's definitions and exemptions, so owning half an acre does not by itself trigger it. If you're not sure whether your property qualifies, we can help point you toward confirming with York Region. If you're clearing a wooded area or acreage rather than individual trees, see Land & Lot Clearing in Stouffville.
Yes. The site is assessed first, and the removal method and property-protection plan are built around access, the tree's size and condition, and surrounding structures, whether that's a Main Street lot or a larger Ballantrae or Musselman's Lake estate.
It depends on the agreed scope. Stump grinding can be included, left for a later date, or skipped entirely, and it should be identified clearly in your quote.
